A total of five men were executed in the gas chamber in the penitentiary.

The hauntings at Pfister hotel have been attributed to the ghost of Charles Pfister, the founder of the hotel. The spirit of Charles Pfister is said to haunt the two-storey lobby which was once brimming with travelers and luminaries visiting Milwaukee. In particular, he is said to be the most active in the grand staircase that leads to the second floor.

The Haunted Room 108 at Clown Motel

The legend of Room 108 at Clown Motel tells of a story of an elderly man who happened to be the motel’s front desk manager. One night, the elderly man decided to spend the night at the hotel, leaving his colleague to take the overnight shift at the front desk. However, he became severely sick and reportedly tried to call the front desk for help. With no one picking up the phone, the elderly man called his sister who immediately paged for an ambulance to the Clown Motel.

The Infamous Dark Cell in Yuma Territorial Prison

Carved out from the side of the hill, the Dark Cell measured 10 feet by 10 feet and house an iron cage in the center. The cell was notorious for having no windows; the only light came from a tiny shaft located at the top of the cell. Prisoners who disobeyed the rules or misbehaved would be sent to the Dark Cell where they would spent up to several weeks. There was no blanket or mattress for comfort. The only contact with outside is the daily ration sent by a guard; bread and water is given once a day.
